Shatta Wale’s ‘Dancehall King’ Song Wins in Popular UK Based Radio Show #NS10v10 Clash

2 min read

If you are a fan of twitter you would realized that this UK 🇬🇧 based radio station ‘NO SIGNAL’ has been doing some clashes of artistes on their show since the Coronavirus pandemic.

They did one with Wizkid and Vybz Kartel, undoubtedly one of the most talked about in their series of clashes.

This time was for a music era between Ghana 🇬🇭 and Nigeria 🇳🇬

Azonto Era and Zanku Era.

One thing was clear the Azonto era is much more older hence many songs came from between 2010 to 2014, so definitely those are old songs as compared to Zanku which is just like a year or two years old so all songs played are current and fresh in the minds of many people who followed the thread on twitter polls to vote for the songs.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 with Zanku won many of the polls about 10 of the polls, one was a draw and Ghana won the rest.

Ghanaian dancehall artiste born Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale song DANCEHALL KING dropper in 2014, was not a typical azonto song selected by the Dj repping the Azonto side Dj DNA, because he said he wanted to stick to Azonto sounds as compared to the other dj repping the Zanku era who was playing songs that are not even a Zanku classified.

But fortunately the song he put in to be played for round 13 of the clash wasn’t playing ( he said it was from Gasmilla I could only guess that was Telemo ) so they had to fall on the next song and then Boom they dropped Shatta’s #DancehallKing that tune spoiled the show and gave some life to the clash the final poll results is an evidence to that fact 64% highest percentage for any of the Gh 🇬🇭 songs that won over the Naija tunes.

This also made Shatta Wale got trended in the UK 🇬🇧 twitter trends #21 and #25

Let me chip in this , the clash was for 10 / 10 songs each but the show was so madd that they had to do it 15/15 and that’s for the first time ever in the show.

Shout out to African music. Africa, west africa music won, afrobeat won.

More of such attention is good for the focus on music from Africa especially Ghana 🇬🇭 globally…the show was about 5 hours and after the clash a lot of Ghana and Nigeria music was played back to back for hours.

A lot of highlife sounds from Ghana 🇬🇭 was just on back to back..
